Successful Foundation Year
We have made it to the end of our foundation year, and what a year it has been! Some extraordinary highs and of course the ups and downs of COVID, lockdowns and Learning From Home.
Our students have done a remarkable job, dealing with extraordinary uncertainty. We have seen some remarkable resilience, academic performance, friendship and leadership across the year.
To our current year 7 foundation students. We are so proud of everything you have been able to achieve in this truly historic year. You will always be our foundation students. You will always be the first to have walked through these doors and learnt in these halls. Now it is time for you to welcome our next group of students to the school. I would expect that each of our foundation students displays our behavioural expectations of Aim High, Work Hard and Be Good to our new cohort of year 7 students and welcomes them warmly to the school. I would also expect our foundation students to show high levels of leadership during the school year.
Important New Developments
Just this week we have been able to secure two additional specialist buildings which will be installed over summer and should be commissioned for student use early in term 1. The relocatable buildings will allow us to run more specialist classes before our stage 2 buildings are completed.
In addition to this, the long awaited School Special bus route from Greenvale has finally received funding. The route was approved last year but has only just been funded in the most recent budget for the 2021 school year. This route will travel through the new estates in Greenvale on Mickleham Road, direct to Elevation Secondary College in the morning and in the opposite direction at the end of the school day. As soon as I have final details on the route and times I will contact families directly.
Year 7 Camp
Camp was a great way to finish off the year for Elevation Secondary College. Over 80 of our students attended the camp and had a wonderful time in the heat participating in all sorts of activities.
Thanks to Mr Schutz for outstanding organisation of the camp and being able to snag a booking for us despite the COVID-19 cancellation of most camps this year.
Welcome New Year 7 students
On Tuesday the 8th of December, we were able to welcome our new Year 7 students to the school for a COVID safe Orientation Day. We have approximately 170 Year 7 students beginning at the school next year and 8 Mentor Groups. We continue to grow as a school!
