Assistant Principal Appointment
I am pleased to inform the school community that Alex Mangione will be taking on the role of Assistant Principal for Curriculum. As Sonia Loudon continues her return from family leave on a reduced time fraction, Mr. Mangione will be sharing duties with her for the remainder of the year.
Mr. Mangione is a foundation staff member of the school and has been leading the Maths domain for a number of years.
Building Works – Builder Appointed
The school will be having further building works undertaken during December and January to improve existing buildings. Buildings B, E and F, our Learning Communities, will be having major rectifications completed to enclose all classroom areas that were formerly open plan or flexible learning classrooms. This will assist us to deliver more effective teaching and learning, with less distractions from neighbouring classrooms. Included in the works will not only be fully enclosed standalone classrooms, but also some additional Science classrooms, Visual Arts classrooms and additional relocatable buildings.
We have been advised last week that the tender for rectification works has been won by Alchemy Constructions. We are completing timetabling work right now that may allow works to start in December, to ensure all of the new classrooms are ready for the start of the 2026 school year.
Year 12 Exam Period
As I finalise this report I have just been with our Year 12s as they enter their English exam. The English exam is the first major exam each year at the start of the Year 12 exam period. This is a huge milestone for our school to reach this point.
Our Year 12 exams will proceed across the next two weeks and we are excited to support of inaugural cohort through this stressful but worthwhile time. Our Year 12 teachers and senior school team have been exceptional in providing thorough and accurate support to students to help them prepare academically for the exams as well as supporting them emotionally through a stressful period.
