Welcome – Gamadji Primary School Team
On Wednesday this week I was excited to welcome Maria Marchionna and Abby Croft to Elevation. Maria and Abby are the newly appointed Principal and Assistant Principal of Gamadji Primary School – a new Primary School opening up in 2026 very close to our school on Mackillop Street Craigieburn. It was great to hear about Maria’s vision for Gamadji and exciting to discuss how our schools could work together in the future.

Outgoing School Council President – Thank You
On behalf of the school and the School Council, I would like to pass on sincere thanks to Jo Hardie, the outgoing School Council President. Jo has served on our School Council as a parent representative for four years and President for three. In that time Jo has delivered a great amount of community expertise within the School Council and has worked with the Executive Team to oversee the expansion and growth of the school. We will miss her warmth and passion for Elevation Secondary College and the Craigieburn area.
Incoming School Council President
As a result of Jo’s retirement, I would like to officially introduce Tirath Singh as our new School Council President. Tirath joined School Council earlier this year and with Jo Hardie’s departure – moves up to the role of President. I met with Tirath earlier this week to discuss working together to strengthen our school.
Student Learning Conferences and Subject Selection
I am writing this report as we finalise the second day of our Student Learning Conferences and Subject Selections. Our students have always and continue to do a great job of completing reflections in each of their subjects prior to conferences and then sharing those reflections with their parents and teachers. This conference structure has helped our students to display ownership over their learning and identify areas for improvement. Thanks to all the parents and guardians who attended the conferences and engaged in powerful learning conversations.
I’d also like to shoutout the great work of our careers and pathways team for their subject selection program for current Year 9 and 10 students. Following on from the Subject Expo, the subject selection discussions I have witnessed have been very powerful and centred on achieving great pathways for students.
David Williamson Writing Competition
We are really excited to once again partner with David Williamson to launch the second annual David Williamson writing competition. The writing competition is underway now for all Elevation Secondary College students with thousands of dollars of prizemoney to be won. There are further details about the competition later in this newsletter.
