Principal’s Report

End of Term 2

I’d like to thank the entire Elevation Community for their support and hard work during a very long Term 2. There have been a huge number of events and activities held this term, in addition to the regular educational program.

Semester Reports

All students will receive their semester reports this Friday on Compass. The reports cover the entirety of Semester 1 learning and are an official document outlining overall progress. Most of the information included in the reports has been provided across the year via Compass, such as the Common Assessment Task grades and Aim High, Work Hard, Be Good data. Final attendance figures for the semester and Victorian Curriculum assessments for 7 – 10 students are included. Parents and Carers should note that reports for VCE students are significantly different to reports for students in Years 7 – 10.

Should you have questions about your child’s report you can get in touch early next term. Student Learning Conferences are held in week four of next term and provide an excellent opportunity to talk with teachers about the next steps for learning.

GAT

It was great to see our first full cohort of Year 12 students sitting the GAT a couple of weeks ago. There’s more information on the GAT later in this newsletter, however it is an important milestone during Year 12 – and it was pleasing to see the preparation and efforts students put into it.

Year 12 Formal

Another exciting event was our first ever Elevation Formal held on Friday the 20th of June. The students had a wonderful time at the event and really enjoyed dancing the night away. A huge thanks for the formal committee of Havin, Aaisha, Aneeta, Claire, Danica, Manoilaa, Phoenix, Ravnoor, Thabi and Yasemin. The senior school team also put in a massive effort to make the event memorable.

Principal’s Advisory Committee

I was pleased to meet with the inaugural Principal’s advisory committee a couple of weeks ago. This group of leaders are elected by the SRC to meet with myself on a regular basis to discuss issues facing students and areas we can continue to improve as a school. It was great to hear directly from such an impressive group of students what they value about the school and how they would like to work together to improve.

Next Term – Second Annual David Williamson Writing Competition

Something to look forward to, next term we will be launching our second annual whole school writing competition – the David Williamson Writing Competition. Keep your eyes out for information on the competition when it launches early next term.
