Dear Year 7 & Year 8 students and families,
It is with great pleasure that we extend a warm welcome to each and every one of our Year 7 and Year 8 students and families. In particular we would like to acknowledge our Year 7 families; 2024 marks an exciting milestone for all of you and we are committed to ensuring a smooth transition and a fulfilling first term for both students and families.
We understand that transitioning to highschool and a new year level or class can be both exciting and daunting for students and families alike. That’s why we believe that open communication and family involvement are essential for the success of our students. As partners in your child’s education journey, we encourage you to work collaboratively to support your young learners’ academic, social and emotional development throughout the year. The following team will be working closely alongside mentor group teachers and classroom teachers to support you along your schooling journey in 2024, they include:
Year 7 | Year 8 | |
Year Level Leader | Ms Courtney Gorham | Ms Gulsen Tankir |
Year Level Coordinator | Mr Mark Favaloro | Ms Bonnie Duncan |
Year Level Coordinator | Mr Jason Stradella | Ms Rayanne Chebbou |
Mini School Administrator | Ms Holly Heffernan | Ms Samantha Abdillah |
New Beginnings for Year 7s
Year 7 students are off to an exceptional start this term! With a smooth transition into the school community, they’ve embraced new friendships and connected with teachers. Demonstrating exemplary behaviour aligned with our values of Aim High, Work Hard, Be Good, they’re setting a remarkable standard. Our recent Welcome BBQ was a resounding success, with families mingling, touring the College, and having a bite to eat. We extend our gratitude to all who participated.
As we look ahead, excitement builds for the upcoming Year 7 camp—a fantastic opportunity for further growth, friendship and learning.
Uniform
Students have shown great effort to wear the correct uniform.
If students are wearing the incorrect uniform, in order to receive an approved uniform pass, they must provide a note to the coordinator’s office before their mentor group. PE uniform is only to be worn on PE days (once a week, please refer to your child’s timetable).
Attendance & Lates
If your child is absent on any particular day, please make an attendance note on compass or contact the school to inform us of their absence. If a student does not arrive to class in time to participate in LSL, they are considered late and will be marked yellow. You can monitor your child’s class attendance throughout the day using your compass app. We monitor attendance and produce a lates report every week (calculated from every Wednesday to Tuesday).
- Students who arrive late to class 3 or 4 times in one week will receive an After School detention (3pm-3.45pm)
- Students who arrive 5 or more times in one week will receive an Afterschool Detention on Friday from 3pm-4.15pm
Equipment
In order to support your child’s learning progress in the classroom, it is important that they attend all classes necessary equipment, that includes the following:
- School diary
- Pencil case
- Separate exercise book for every subject
- Subject specific textbook/s
- Laptop (fully charged)
Canteen
The canteen is now serving close to 1000 students. To ensure that students get their food quickly, families are encouraged to order online. All orders can be placed online on https://boccaonline.com.au/ . You can order students lunch by 9am and pay online.
Online orders reduce lines and waiting time for food and is preferred. However, students can also purchase food over the counter using CASH and EFTPOS. Please note, STRICTLY NO PAYMENTS BY MOBILE OR SMART WATCHES (phones and smart watches will not be accepted).
We look forward to creating a memorable and rewarding term for students and families. If you would like more information or have any further questions, please reach out to one of our team members.
