Junior School

Year 7

This term, students have been rewarded with Mugs of Merit, recognising their hard work, positive choices and commitment to our school values. Next term, we are excited to introduce Scoops for Success! This initiative will celebrate the students who have shown the most improvement in their Aim High, Work Hard, Be Good data. Students who make significant progress will be rewarded with an ice cream at lunchtime, a delicious way to celebrate their achievement and recognise their hard work!

We have also enjoyed Backflips Against Bullying incursion, which provided an important opportunity for students to think about the importance of inclusion, standing up against bullying and making sure everyone feels welcome and valued.

A strong focus this term has been kindness, and this is something we want to continue building next term. We encourage all students to remember that small acts of kindness can make a big difference. This includes being kind and respectful to everyone, using our pleasantries such as please, thank you, excuse me and good morning, and taking the time to make others feel valued.

As we head into next term, we look forward to continuing to celebrate success, encourage improvement and build a Year 7 community where everyone feels included, supported and respected.

Year 8

Year 8 recently completed the Organ Pipes National Park excursion. It will help set them up for future excursions and trips. Excitingly, interest in the Leadership Camp residential experience is building. It will run next year; encourage your child to express interest if they think it will suit them.

It has been nice to see staff having positive interactions with some of our students this term. This is especially the case with our more quiet and conscientious students, who turn up every day to do the right thing.

A reminder to families that regular attendance is extremely important, particularly as students prepare to transition into Term 4. Building strong attendance habits in Junior school is vital for success later on in your student’s secondary education.

We ask families to please avoid planning holidays or extended periods away from school during Term 4 wherever possible. Additionally, if your child contacts you asking to pick them up, please remind them that staying in school for the extra couple of hours could genuinely lead to them learning something which could be pivotal in assessments. We should not be picking up students unless there is an urgent need (e.g doctors) or you are contacted by the school.
