Tuning in to Teens – Supporting Your Teen Through the Teenage Years

The teenage years can be exciting, challenging and sometimes a little unpredictable — for both young people and their families.

Tuning in to Teens is a practical and supportive parenting program designed to help parents and carers better understand their teenager’s emotions, strengthen communication and build a more connected relationship at home.

The program explores ways to:

  • understand what may be happening behind your teen’s behaviour
  • respond to strong emotions with greater confidence
  • improve listening and communication
  • manage conflict more calmly
  • support your teen through stress, friendships and changing relationships
  • strengthen connection and trust within the family

The program is based on the idea that when young people feel heard and understood, they are better able to manage emotions, solve problems and develop healthy relationships.

Available in Arabic

We are pleased to let families know that Tuning in to Teens is also offered in Arabic, giving Arabic-speaking parents and carers the opportunity to participate in the program in their preferred language.

Every family has its own strengths, values, traditions and ways of supporting young people. Tuning in to Teens is not about telling parents how to parent. Instead, it offers practical tools and ideas that families can adapt to suit their own home and circumstances.

Whether things are going well or parenting your teenager feels difficult at times, this program can provide useful strategies for navigating adolescence together.
