Term 3 has been a busy time for ESC Library, with the excitement of Book Week. This year’s Book Week theme is “Book an Adventure” and the library facilitated a workshop with guest speaker Scott Edgar. Scott is a writer and illustrator for video games and came into ESC to run a workshop for a group of students. In the two-hour session Scott talked the students through how to create narratives, characters, build a world and use storytelling traditions in video games. Students can also take these lessons and ideas into their schoolwork and any creative writing projects.
We also ran the Bookmark Design Competition during Book Week, which is a favourite among students. All Elevation students are given the opportunity to design a bookmark that they believe represents the Book Week theme. Students with the winning designs will have their bookmarks professionally printed, as well as receive Readings gift vouchers. Bookmarks will be available in the library in Term 4.
