Arts

Creativity has been firing on all cylinders in the Arts faculty this term!

Visual Arts

In Year 7, students have been experimenting with different mediums by studying skeletons of humans and animals using mixed media. In Year 9, students have been constructing wire sculptures. In Year 10, students have been displaying their artistic flourish with landscape paintings. 

Visual Communication & Design

In Year 8, students have been working on game posters. In Year 9, students have been working on model making. In Year 10, students have been using their imagination to create children’s books. In Year 11, students completed a design for their own mobile apps. In Year 12, students put finishing touches on their final projects using a variety of visual mediums. VCE Students have now completed their exams and earned a much-deserved break. 

Media

In Year 9, students have been hard at work on their Music Video Productions. In Year 10, students completed Podcast Productions and are now hard at work studying for exams. In Year 11, students have completed trailers, posters, and short films, displaying a wide variety of innovative ideas. Year 11 VET Creative and Digital Media students have been finalising their 3D digital models of treehouses. Year 12 VET Creative and Digital Media students put the final touches on their 2D Animation and Website projects. 

Art & Technology Exhibition

Friends and families of Elevation students will be able to see the best artworks from across 7-12 in our upcoming Art Exhibition. This will take place on the 1st of December from 5:30-7:30 and is a fantastic opportunity to see the incredible work of our dedicated art students.

Health & PE

It’s been a busy and active end to the year in Health and Physical Education. Alongside our practical programs, students have been developing their understanding of health, fitness, and teamwork through classroom lessons focused on goal setting, wellbeing, and the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle.

This term also provided plenty of opportunities for students to get involved beyond their regular classes. The Staff vs Student games were a highlight, bringing out great competition and school spirit. The Year 10 Futsal Competition showcased impressive teamwork and enthusiasm, while our lunchtime activities, including Girls Sport and NetSports, have kept the gym lively and full of energy throughout the week.

We’re incredibly proud of the effort and participation students have shown this term  both in the classroom and across all HPE activities. Their energy, teamwork, and commitment continue to make HPE a strong part of school life.

Extension & Enrichment

David Williamson Writing Competition

In 2025, we held our second annual David Williamson Writing Competition. On October 30th, we held a presentation night in honour of our shortlisted students and award winners. This year we received over double the amount of entries from last year, and welcomed double the amount of shortlisted attendees and their families to the presentation night. Special judges Joshua Fielding, George Poulakis, Georgia Wheaton, Molly Pinkney and Christopher Anderson scaled through piles of incredible creative work from our talented students, and awarded the following prizes:

National Maths Talent Quest – High Distinction Achievement

Congratulations to Jasnoor (Year 8)on achieving a High Distinction in the 2025 National Maths Talent Quest (MTQ). First held in 1982, the MTQ is an annual event open to all primary and secondary students. Participants select an investigation based on their own interests and apply mathematics in real-world contexts. This year’s MTQ saw 442 entries from 44 Victorian schools.

Jasnoor’s project, The Spread of Misinformation, was completed as part of Elevation’s enrichment program, Logic. At the state award ceremony, Jasnoor stood alongside students from public and private schools across Victoria. We are delighted that her work has been recognised at this level, and we congratulate her on this exceptional achievement.

Curious Minds

We are proud to announce that Year 9 student Asra and Year 8 student Jasnoor have been selected for Curious Minds, a highly competitive national STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) program for girls. 

In December, Asra and Jasnoor will attend a week-long camp in Canberra, where they will explore advanced science and maths topics, join workshops and tours, and work with top students from across Australia. In July, they will take part in a second online camp, learning how different STEM areas connect to solve real-world problems. They will also be matched with a STEM coach, who will mentor them throughout the year.

This prestigious opportunity supports young women to extend their talents, build confidence, and explore future STEM pathways. We look forward to seeing the growth, learning and experiences that Asra and Jasnoor will bring back to our school community.
