Term 2 so far…
We may only be six weeks into Term 2 but it has certainly been busy right across the school. This term has seen our Year 9 students complete their Morrisby Careers interviews, as well as a number of incursions and excursions take place, a range of interschool sport competitions and of course our whole College Athletics Carnival. Certainly, a very busy term and we are only halfway through!
School Review
This term we have been undertaking our School Review via the Department of Education’s four-year review cycle. These reviews take place every four years and help to develop the next strategic plan. We should receive the findings later in the term and begin to develop the new strategic plan shortly thereafter.
Upcoming Curriculum Day
As most of you will be aware, Friday the 6th of June will be a Curriculum Day with no classes running. Teaching staff will be working on a range of planning and assessment activities across the day, to assist with CAT and SAC tasks throughout the rest of the year.
Year 10 Exams and Work Experience
Weeks 9, 10 and 11 of this term are exceptionally important weeks for our Year 10 students. Year 10 students will be completing exams on the 18th, 19th and 20th of June and then completing their Semester 1 subjects in week 10 (the 23rd of June to the 27th of June). Attendance at both the exams and Week 10 classes is mandatory and vital for students to finalise and complete their semester 1 studies. Attendance and completion of these exams and classes will help to provide data that will inform subject selection for VCE which will be happening early in Term 3.
Full details of expectations and attendance during this period of time will be sent home to students and families via Compass shortly.
Week 11 (beginning on the 30th of June) is work experience week. This is a very important week for students to get a taste of work – preferably in an industry that forms part of their career pathway. If students or families need support or advice in gaining a work experience placement, they can contact the Careers and Pathways team on 8339 8000.
Winter Uniform
As winter rolls around and colder wetter weather becomes the norm, students are required to adhere to the uniform policy. Our Assistant Principals’ report in this newsletter shows students how to stay warm and compliant with the uniform policy.
