Year 9
As we come to the end of Term 3, our Year 9 students have been working hard to complete their first assessments for Semester 2. All grades and scores are now accessible on Compass. In addition, students have made their subject selections for Year 10 in 2026, an important step in their learning journey.
Earlier this term, 12 of our students attended the Future Options program at Kangan Institute. This event provided hands-on experiences and valuable information to help students explore potential career paths, particularly in trades and vocational training. Through workshops, campus tours, and opportunities to connect with industry professionals, students gained practical insights to support their future education and career planning.
We also held our final Year 9 assembly for Term 3, where students received key information about the upcoming City Experience program in Term 4. The assembly was also a chance to celebrate the achievements of our Aspire program. Congratulations to 9B, who currently lead the year level with an outstanding 786 Aspire points! They were recognised with a trophy and a well-deserved pizza lunch.
With Term 4 just around the corner, we look forward to the exciting opportunities ahead and are confident our Year 9 students will continue to achieve great things.

Year 10
The Year 10 Mentor Group Futsal competition is starting to wrap up. Over the past couple of weeks, Mentor Groups have been going head to head in Futsal, which has drawn huge crowds from the entire school, cheering them on. We are coming down to the last week of Competition before we crown a winning Mentor Group. We look forward to seeing who is crowned the Year 10 Mentor Group Futsal champions for 2025!
Build 10 Program
Students that have been completing the Build 10 Program at Kangan Institute in Broadmeadows are finishing the program in 6 weeks. Students have undertaken an accelerated pathway to receive a nationally recognised qualification towards further employment and training. Well done to all students that have shown great dedication in completing the program and taking the first steps in their career journey.
Preparing for Exams
Year 11 (students completing a VCE 1/2) and Year 10 exams will start in week 6 of Term 4. It’s important that students do everything they can to prepare for their upcoming exams as it can be a stressful experience, but with the right strategies, students can approach their studies confidently and effectively. Here are some practical tips and methods to help students prepare efficiently.
Creating a Study Schedule
Breaking down the material into manageable chunks over the days leading up to the exam helps avoid last-minute cramming. Students should allocate specific time slots for each subject or topic and stick to the plan, ensuring regular breaks to maintain focus and prevent burnout.
Active Learning Techniques
Instead of passively reading notes, students should engage with the material by summarising concepts in their own words, creating flashcards, or teaching the content to someone else. This deepens understanding and improves retention.
Staying Organised
Keeping notes, textbooks, and resources neatly arranged. A clutter-free study space can enhance concentration and reduce distractions.
The earlier that students start preparing for assessments and exams the more prepared they will feel and they will set themselves up for greater success.
