Elevation Secondary College would like to welcome back Year 9 students for the 2025 academic school year, in what will be a crucial year for their education.

Many Mentor Group teachers have remained the same and we welcome new Mentor Group teachers to our school. At ESC, our mentor group teachers are the first point of contact for parents and the everyday needs of students.
Year 9 Update
In our first week back at school, all students in Year 9 received an introductory presentation which included a reminder about key school policies relating to attendance, equipment, punctuality, uniform, work completion and the policies around mobile phones. We kindly ask that if any parent requires clarification of these policies, to contact the Mentor Group teacher where they can be explained in more detail.
Career Pathways
Our Year 9 cohort have made a positive start to the year and students are enjoying getting their first experience of electives, with classes in Forensic Science, Extension Science, Visual Arts, Visual Communication, Music and many more. We encourage your child to reflect on what subjects they are enjoying in advance of Year 10 subject selection, which will take place later in the year.
A crucial part of pathway selection for students is Morrisby Testing. This is a free careers-profiling service run by My Career Insights. Students who complete the testing will receive suggestions for careers that may be of interest to them, based on their responses to literacy, numeracy and abstract reasoning questions. They will also get questions on their interests and topics they are passionate about. Students who complete the testing will also be eligible for an interview with a professional careers counselor to discuss and unpack their results.
Year 9 students should have received a consent form to take part in their Morrisby testing earlier this month. Thank you to those of you who have already returned their form.
If your child has lost their slip, they can request a new one from their mentor group teacher or the Careers Team. The careers office can be found in B7.

Welcome back to families returning to us and to all new families joining us for 2025. For returning families, there are plenty of familiar faces in the Coordination Team, with the addition of other colleagues joining us as well. In 2025, the Year 10 Team consists of:

Career Pathways
Year 10 students have had a presentation on work experience outlining what they need to do. Work Experience will occur between 30th June 2025 to 4th July 2025, during Term 2.
Students will need to complete:
- Safe@work Certificates
- Work arrangement forms
- Letter to employer
- USI number
These forms need to be handed into the Career office in B8 when completed.
Reminders
- Please remember if our students come to school wearing the wrong uniform, they do need to provide a note provided by parents to the Coordinators Office before their Mentor Group to receive an ‘Out of Uniform Notice’.
- PE uniform is only to be worn on PE days. This is once a week.
- Attendance notes need to be added to Compass, or the school contacted when students are away. Students completing Year 11 subjects need to provide medical notes on days of absence.
- A student that does not come to class on time is marked late, including Mentor Group. This can be seen on Compass during the schedule as yellow. Students that receive 3 lates will receive an after school detention (3pm-3.45pm). Missed after school detentions will mean students are removed from class the next day.
- Laptops are to be charged at home before school the next day.
- Students are to check their compass the night before to prepare for the next day. This will help with important information. If parents can also help this process, that would be greatly appreciated.
- The canteen is now serving close to 1200 students. To ensure that students get their food quickly, families are encouraged to order online. All orders can be placed online on https://boccaonline.com.au/. This assists with ordering and catering, and will reduce lines and waiting time for food. Lunch can be purchased from the counter using CASH and EFTPOS, but, there are strictly no payments by mobile or smart watches because under Ministerial Order, these must not be used and will not be accepted.
