Welcome back to Term Three. Not only are the days getting warmer and longer, there are a number of exciting things happening within the school at the moment.
Subject Expo and Subject Selection
Our annual ‘Subject Expo’ was well attended last Monday evening, with a range of information available to students entering Year 10 and Year 11 in 2026. Students also benefited from subject stalls where they were able to speak with teachers of a range of subjects. We also hosted Kangan Institute, La Trobe University, Headstart school-based apprenticeships, MEGT and Melbourne Polytechnic that provided information to families about future pathway options.
Our Subject Selections and Student Learning Conferences have also been held over the past few days with a large number of families in attendance. Attendance at Student Learning Conferences helps to grow the connection of home and school and ensures open communication between teachers and families. We thank families that attended.
For families that weren’t able to attend, please feel free to get in touch with your child’s teachers via Compass, as well as log in to Compass to check their reports.
School Arrival Time
We remind all families that our designated arrival time for students is 8:30am. This allows students enough time to access their lockers, catch up with friends, and prepare for their classes. Please note that the bell for the start of lessons rings at 8:43am.
To help meet this schedule, we recommend preparing uniforms and school bags the night before and aiming for a screen-free bedtime by 9:30pm. We also ask that families adjust their morning routines to ensure students arrive by 8:30am.
We have even further strengthened our processes in providing consistent consequences for lateness. The data shows that these new systems have had a pleasing influence on students arriving to classes on time. We also thank families for their continued support as we provide logical consequences designed to teach students to be independent and organised young adults.
Student Equipment
Having the appropriate materials for each class is crucial to your child’s academic success and allows them to fully participate in their learning. It supports your child’s organisation, active involvement in lessons, and successful task completion.
Important items include, but are not limited to:
- Stationery: Pencil case, pens, pencils, erasers, ruler, and sharpener.
- Exercise Books and Folders: Separate exercise books for each subject.
- Diary: For tracking assignments and due dates.
- Laptops.
- Textbooks.
To help your child come to class fully prepared, we encourage families to ensure they have all the required materials and to purchase any missing items as needed. An organised pencil case and tidy folders can greatly improve a student’s ability to concentrate and perform well academically.
